Our family has always built. For decades we did residential construction across the Salinas Valley: renovations, remodels, and new homes from the ground up, through our previous company, the old-fashioned way, with our own hands and our own crews.

Then we started taking ADU projects, and one of them changed everything. We watched what a single small home did for one client's family: the space it opened up, the income it created, the people it brought back together. That was the moment we understood how much good these homes can do, and how many California families needed one. Kids priced out of living near their parents. Aging parents with nowhere to land. And every existing option failing them: slow, expensive site builds, opaque modular companies, contractors who disappeared mid-project.

The realization that followed built this company: if we moved the same traditional residential construction methods we'd used for decades into a climate-controlled factory, we could help more people, faster, without giving up an ounce of the craftsmanship. Our family began building prefab around 2018, and in January 2021, Cathy, Austin, and Joshua founded Framework First as equal partners, starting from scratch: no client list, nothing inherited but our own skills and the decades of building experience behind us. Eric, our co-founder and Craftsman Trainer, sets the craftsmanship standard. Austin, our COO, runs operations and the factory floor. Joshua, our CMO, runs marketing and advertising and built the technology and software behind the company. And Cathy, our CEO and co-founder, leads sales and sets the tone for every conversation, contract, and finish. You'll often meet her in person at the factory tour.

Today we build 97% of each home inside a climate-controlled Salinas factory, with stronger 2x6 exterior walls, then crane-deliver it to your property in a single day. Every price is all-inclusive, with a permitting budget built in along with plans, foundation, appliances, delivery, and inspections. Permit costs are set by your city or county, so they're property-specific and confirmed during your feasibility study.
